First of all – who can believe it is already 2019? NOT ME. I am so excited about so many books this year, and I cannot wait to read them all! There is always something so refreshing and hopeful about the start of the year, and I had such fun making this TBR.
This month (and possibly the months ahead) I am participating in the Devour Your Tbr group on Goodreads, which was created by Destiny (howling libraries) and Kathy (books & munches). The theme for this month is January Jam Jar, so I am going to be picking these books out of a jar and then reading the one I picked. So I could be reading these in any order!
1: Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake
This is the third book in the Three Dark Crowns series, which I love! I know they aren’t for anyone, but I am so excited to finally read the third book in the series, because these books are renowned for their wicked cliffhangers.
2: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Last January I read Elantris, which is Brandon Sanderson’s debut book, and I loved it! It made my top ten books of 2018, so now I really want to read some more of his books. This one seems like a good place to start.
3: A Dance With Dragons: After The Feast by George R R Martin
I read have read the whole existing main Game of Thrones series except this one, and I really want to finish it! I really like these books and I am starting to miss the characters.
4: The Queens Fool by Philippa Gregory
Philippa Gregory is one of my all time favourite authors, and this is one of the books by her that I haven’t read yet. I would really like to finish all the books I have left by Philippa Gregory this year, although that is a very tentative goal, and is unlikely to happen.
5: The Wicked King by Holly Black
So, being me, I was kind of indifferent about The Cruel Prince, but hey, I could NOT be more excited for this sequel! I have it preordered, and I am so ready to find out what happened after that wicked cliffhanger. And so many of the pre-release reviews have been so positive, so I am hopeful.
6: Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl
This is one of those books which even after reading the blurb about ten times, you have no idea what it is actually about. But I think this is kind of sci-fi and involves time getting stuck. Hey, I’ll read it!
7: Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake
I was really excited for this when it came out earlier in 2018, but I didn’t manage to get a copy of it. But now I do, and I am going to read it as soon as it comes out my jar. I think that this is a Celtic/Viking fantasy, and sounds awesome.
8: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
This one has been on my longterm tbr for so long, and I think it is a pretty classic YA book. I just really want to find out what happens in it, and form my own opinion. I am kind of nervous about it, but I am willing to try it.
9: I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
I want to add a little bit of contemporary to my month, because I don’t read much of it, and I think I should broaden my reading range. I think this one is going to be really good, and I have seen lots of people loving it.
10: Fathomless by Jackson Pearce
Recently I read Sweetly which is part of the same series, and I want to continue. This book has mermaids in it, and I will always be here for mermaids. I love them, and I need them.
11: The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
I definitely want to reread one of my all time favourite books, because this one shaped so much of my reading tastes. I love it so much and I haven’t read it in ages, which surprises me. I will fix that this month!
12: To Best the Boys by Mary Webber
I have an e-arc of this and it looks really awesome, so I will be reading this one this month too. It looks so good and fun and girl power-y! I can’t wait to read it.
I will most likely read more books than this in January, but I am not good at following TBRs so I will leave a little room for me to be a mood reader and just pick up whatever I feel like. But I am excited for nearly all of these books, and I will hopefully read them all. I hope you all have an amazing reading month, and that you find some new favourites in the first month of the year!
