Five Star Predictions

I suppose no one really ever goes into a book wanting it (or expecting it) to be bad, but there are some books you just have a feeling about, you know? Those books that sit on your shelves for ages while you eye them up and procrastinate on reading them because you think they are going to blow your mind. Those books that you secretly know you are going to love. Those books that you think will be an all time favourite, if you could just pluck up the courage to read them.

Well, I definitely have a few of them, and I wanted to just make a short list here of some books that I think are going to be five stars! Of course, I don’t know for absolute certain that these books will blow me away, but there are normally factors for each book that adds up to me thinking it will be a five star read, and I sincerely hope that all of them live up to my expectations!

1: Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
This is perhaps the most obvious one of them all, because Nevernight was my second favourite book of 2018, and I love Jay Kristoff’s writing style so much. I have been putting this one off for so long and I don’t even know why! I anticipate I am going to love this book so much…so why haven’t I read it yet?

2: The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton
This is a big adult fantasy which is based on Shakespeare’s King Lear. I haven’t read much actual Shakespeare, but I do love all the stories, and King Lear is one of my favourites. I have started a little bit of this one a while ago and I loved the writing style, and I just really have the feeling that this is going to be an all time favourite that I will cherish forever.

3: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
This one isn’t out yet, but you bet I will have my hands on it as soon as I can. This one just sounds so, so good? It’s a big chunky epic fantasy with dragons and amazing female characters and all the reviews I have seen so far have been super positive and I just NEED IT. I know I am going to love it so much!

4: Sawkill Girls by Clare Legrand
I read Furyborn (by the same author earlier this year and I loved it! For me, it didn’t quite make five stars, but I think I am going to love Sawkill Girls even more. So many people have said the writing is beautiful (and I am trash for beautiful writing) and also I believe the main character is bisexual! So YAY for representation! I am looking forwards to getting to this one, once I stop procrastinating….

5: Blanca & Roja by Anna Marie McLemore
I have had my eye on this one for a long time – its a magical realism fairytale retelling with swans and diversity and I just???? YES PLEASE. This book sounds like it could be everything and I am so ready to read it. I was finally influenced to get myself a copy by the amazing Melanie (Meltotheany) , who talked about it in their favourite 2018 releases. It is going to be beautiful.

So there are some of my five star predictions! I own most of these books, and hope to get round to reading them soon. It is likely that I will be doing a follow up post to this one when I have read them all, detailing my opinions in all their glory, so look out for that. Though if I know myself at all, that could be a little while, being the queen of not reading books I know I will love!

I wish you all amazing reading!
