Eleanor: In case you didn’t know, Alice and I are absolutely OBSESSED with the musical Six – which is a musical based around the six wives of Henry VIII (and we are also obsessed with the Tudors). I was so excited when I found these tags (there’s one for each wife), and I just knew we had to do them! We will be releasing them all separately, possibly weekly, and you’ll get to find out who are favourite queens are when we get to them!

1: Favourite revenge story
Eleanor: For me, I think I have to go with Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. This is such a dark, bloody and unapologetic read following Mia, a young woman on a mission to get revenge for the murder of her family. Mia is such an amazing character – she’s relentless and ruthless, and her thirst for revenge makes her so deadly. This series is one of my all time favourites and recently the last book was released, so now is a perfect time to pick it up if you haven’t already!
Alice: I think this has to be Warcross by Marie Lu. The revenge just flip-flops from one-side too another. The cliffhanger at the end leaves it up to you to decide your team and whether you ship or you don’t…
2: Book that’s been on your shelf the longest
Eleanor: I have so many unread books….its hard to pinpoint which one has been there for the longest, but lots of classics, definitely. One that comes to mind is The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. I really love Agnes Grey by the same author, and I want to get to this one, but who knows when I will? For read books, probably some of my Jaqueline Wilson collection (e.g Hetty Feather).
Alice: There’s a lot of books I still have from childhood that I’ve kept for sentimental values. There are so many still there that are absolute classics that I will forever cherish. The most relatable and memorable is probably the Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton which is a great book to get you out of your reading slump. The characters are great and so is the food.
3: Most stubborn character
Eleanor: A lot of the time stubborn characters really irritate me when they refuse to see things from other people’s point of view. And I honestly had to go look through my books because this in not a personality trait that sticks with me. I remember the main character from Lightning Mary by Anthea Simmons was so unreasonably stubborn, and it annoyed me to no end.
Alice: Anne from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery when she just won’t accept her fate to be with (insert love interest – no spoilers here) and you just want them to get together and then when she does accept it, it doesn’t happen till BOOK 5!!!!!!!!!!! (UGH!) I love just the same and it’s a really easy children’s classics to get into.
4: A book in a series you would get rid of or change
Eleanor: I would so definitely change the ending of The Fate of The Tearling by Erika Johansen, and add another book to the series to rectify it. I love this book so much but the ending is terrible, and I really wish something could be done about it. This series otherwise is amazing, a sort of dystopian fantasy, which explores the themes of utopia and humanity’s ability to be terrible.
Alice: It’s not in a series but the ending REALLY annoyed me so it’s justified. Anyone who ever read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell has probably been annoyed by the ending. It finishes as if the author ran out of paper and decided to just tie the story up to keep to the budget. It’s a very confusing, annoying, uncommitted ending. Read it at your peril.
5: A GOD TIER book – your fave ever
Eleanor: This has to be the Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor (I can’t choose a favourite between the two, okay?), because I love those books with my whole heart and I don’t think they can be surpassed. They are beautifully written, wonderfully whimsical, and full of the softest, purest and most complex characters ever.
Alice: I have no idea for this one. Unlike Eleanor, I can’t pick there are so many good books out there that if I picked one I would feel bad or change it. I think that my top 3 would be:
- A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews (because of the many tears I shed)
- A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
- Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Cristie
6: “There’s n-n-n-n-no way” – a book/author you’ll never read
Eleanor: I never say never – because one day I might want to read them – but I have never really been interested in continuing the An Ember In The Ashes series. I read the first book and found it very dry, boring and juvenile, and I have very little interest in the rest of the series.
Alice: I will probably read this book when I’m old and have a lot of time on my hands but no new books (very restricted circumstances) but I think the award goes to…The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Excellent film but I can’t deal with the lengthy chapters and 16th century writing (I’m a failure).
So that’s the Catherine of Aragon edition! We will be uploading more in this tag series soon, and we hope you enjoyed this post. Have you seen or listened to Six? What do you think?
